Meet Zach Cantrell: Owner and Passionate Advocate for Underwater Exploration

Ventura Dive & Sport is proud to introduce Zach Cantrell, the passionate and experienced owner hailing from Frazier Park, California. With a dedicated commitment to the diving community, Zach's journey with our company spans over a decade, reflecting his deep connection with the sea and its wonders.

Zach's educational background is rooted in Marine Biology, having earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Santa Barbara. With over 25 years of diving experience, his journey into the world of diving started at the age of 10 when he obtained his open water certification. Born and raised with a love for the water, Zach's diverse upbringing included hunting, lake boating, water skiing, horseback riding, and martial arts, contributing to his well-rounded expertise in outdoor activities.

Zach's story with Ventura Dive & Sport began as a deckhand for The Raptor, our custom dive boat. Over the years, his dedication and love for the underwater world propelled him to become a full-time instructor, currently working towards obtaining his captain's license and PADI Course Director certification.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Zach's personal life intertwines with the sea. He met his wife, Kait, aboard The Raptor, where he served as crew, and she as a Divemaster intern. This shared passion for diving and the ocean has been a cornerstone of their relationship.

Having called Ventura home for over 15 years, Zach took the helm as the new owner of Ventura Dive & Sport when his previous boss, Jim Smith, retired. His leadership is grounded in a profound understanding of the diving community's needs and a commitment to providing unparalleled experiences for enthusiasts of all levels. With over two decades of hands-on experience on the water, Zach Cantrell embodies the spirit of adventure, education, and a deep love for the ocean that defines Ventura Dive & Sport.
