Life Support

Ventura Dive & Sport carries only the finest regulators available in the market today from the finest engineers on the planet.

The number one thing to look for in a regulator is its comfort and its ease of breathing. Modern regulators are simple and reliable devices, with few moving parts. It has two stages, the 1st stage that attaches to the tank and reduces tank pressure to intermediate pressure, a little above surrounding water pressure. The 2nd stage is what goes in your mouth and reduces the intermediate pressure to the surrounding pressure so that you can breathe easily. Also attached is your alternate air source so that in the highly unlikely event you or your buddy should run low on or out of air you can assist each other to the surface. There are two forms the octopus which is a whole additional second stage, and the Alternate Air Inflator, which replaces the standard inflator on your BCD. The final piece of equipment on your regulator is your pressure guage.

There are two types of regulators, unbalanced and balanced. Balanced regulators perform easily the entire dive from when the tank is full to when its near empty at the end of the dive. An unbalanced regulator relies on tank pressure to assist in its performance, getting a little harder to breathe as the dive goes on, but still performing well within safe limits. To learn more about regulators and their performance you can take the PADI Open Water Diver Course or for more advanced knowledge take the PADI Equipment Specialist Course.
